Greatest Boleyn Ground Memories
As we are less than a week away from our final game at the Boleyn I thought it would be good to reminisce.

What is the greatest match you have been to at the Boleyn?

Mine would have to be the League Cup game in '09 v Millwall. The whole day, outside the stadium before the game and the atmosphere inside was electric. The whole stadium didn't stop singing that night.

Jack Collison playing with his dad passing away not long before.

Us scoring that equaliser with minutes to go sending it into Extra Time. Just one of my favourite memories from that place.

There are so many that it is hard to choose one but that is the one I think I'd have to go for.

What's your favourite?

Re: Greatest Boleyn Ground Memories
Maybe this is the wrong thread but my greatest memory of watching West Ham was the 1975 cup final at Wembley. It wasn't the greatest game until Alan Taylor scored and we just all went mad and I can remember in the chaos my feet never touching the ground for about 5 minutes. Then 5 minutes or so later he scored again and I thought bollocks who cares and went onto to a massive West Ham party which went onto sometime into Sunday.
We will never replicate the emotions of sharing those moments with fellow supporters you have never met before but had a common love for our club and that is something we got close to on Tuesday but it will be a rarity unless we move to the next level.
I can remember standing in the North Bank for seasons watching all sorts of games from European Cup winners games to second division games and like everyone else it gave us that buzz.I really want us to deliver that atmosphere when we get to the OS because if we do it will be better than anywhere in this country.

Forget anything that has happened before at Upton Park, the other night topped everything we've ever seen at the old place.

There are so many and most are probably on this thread. One that doesn't get mentioned that much is the FA cup 4th round replay against LUTON TOWN in 1991. They were a league above us and we smashed them 5-0. That was in the run where Georgie scored in 4 or 5 consecutive games.

I absolutely loved that season under Bonds.

Yeah I've always called it Upton Park, it's only relatively recently that people call it the Boleyn

For me I went through every emotion as a fan at Upton Park(Boleyn) does sound weird saying that.

Growing up in the 90's and finally getting a chance to watch certain players that we talked about in the playground like Dicks,Slater & Mad Dog live

The Harry years bought excitement and some of the players he managed to sign were unbelievable again an absolute pleasure to watch these boys live

Then the last 5 years genuinely thinking the club was at breaking point and relegation to then this the other night and the finish at the ground I've enjoyed every minute at

Best 25 years of my life

Apart from all the usual ones already mentioned, being a part of that massive crowd of over 42,000 against the yiddoes in 1970. I was at the back of the North Bank that day, and it seemed to be the best place on the world.

Re: Greatest Boleyn Ground Memories
Never having been a season ticket holder In look back as having been fortunate to have made it to some cracking games, and some disasters over the years. Chelsea 4-0 away will always be the away highlight whatever may come but two Upton Park memories that stand out for me were Trevor Brookings last game against Everton which sadly ended in a 0-1 defeat but the fact that no-one moved until Sir Trev came back out for a lap of honour was incredible. I believe that the Chairman at the time Len Cearns had to ask him to go back on to the pitch,.

The match that stands out though will have to be the 2-1 win against Manchester United in 85/86 with a cracker from Mark Ward and one from Cottee. I can't really think of a better atmosphere that day it was absolutely rocking,.

F.a Cup quarter Aston villa in the west side with my dad and all his brothers rocking at the end.

Tottenham lasagne gate
Tottenham 4-3 defeat revel goal even though we lost the atmosphere was good.
Ipswich play off
Ipswich 86 fooking tense stuff

Funny memory
Streaker vs Cambridge in the snow
Vs Man Utd Gordon Strahan goes to take a corner at south bank/ chicken run corner a pissed up hammer throws a pint at Strahan, hits his leg Strahan turns looks wipes so.e beer if his leg and tasted it, then puts a thumb smiles and says cheers, class. A player today would have the physio on call the ref over, but not Gordon.

The women Hamburg seller who it looked like she kept the burgers warm under her armpits, funny she looked rough but we still bought them😱😱😱

A mate of mine ripping his hand open on south bank segregation fence against the Os on a freezing cold day in the 80s well I thought it was funny.

Re: Greatest Boleyn Ground Memories
E/Frankfurt in 76 and in latter days the Ipswich play off game... the atmosphere for those two games will never be replicated

I remember people used to say that atmosphere would never be able to match the days of the terracing over place once it went all seater, especially that Frankfurt game. Whilst I'd admit it was few and far between that Ipswich play off game proved it could be done.

That's why you can't write off the OS having that odd night where the atmosphere is electric, especially with nearly double the amount of fans in there.

Don't get me wrong I reckon it will be sanitised over there most weeks (tbh the Boleyn is pretty much like that now anyway) but I just think there be odd the game where it will be special.

An on topic article in the Mirror that people can punch holes in:

Farewell West Ham's Upton Park.. a rough, threatening, thrilling ground that will not be missed for long

OPINION BY DAVE KIDD

It felt breathless, rebellious and electric, but was a place of its time — one that has passed and shouldn’t be mourned — and it is not worth idealising

Upton Park was a special place for me.

The place where I first witnessed serious violence, hardcore racism, drug-taking, frightening levels of crushing and the warm feeling of having your leg urinated upon by a man who was never going to travel across a sea of humanity to the toilets at the sides of the North Bank.

So there’ll be no misty water-coloured memories from behind rose-tinted specs about the fact that West Ham won’t play any more matches there after Tuesday night’s visit from Manchester United .

Sure I was there for Eintracht, Everton in the cup and many others but, I wont be there tomorrow and that could well be up there in the pantheon.
